I awoke to a good pour in the Little Bitty in the Syracuse city neighborhood of Eastwood this Mother’s Day morning.
And the coffee pot is still brewing to fill the cup the size of my head.
No, I’m talking about the rain that was falling down loud and proud to awaken me this Sunday. That’s OK. We’ve been bone dry the last few weeks. My dear wife Karen even pulled out the garden hose yesterday afternoon.
Me? I admired her tenacity for getting the gardens good and soaked.
And I noticed that our flowering Robinson crabapple in the front yard was, in fact, in its first day of showing off its blossoms.
It’s looking pretty fine in this third spring gracing us with its beauty. The better is yet to come for a week or so, I’d say.
Later, with the afternoon adventure completed, I threw a couple of steaks on the grill, the first barbecue event of the season.
Karen completed the salt potatoes and salad to accompany our thin-cut ribeyes. And it was good.
So on this Sunday, we’re hoping the rains stay away enough for us to complete the mission from yesterday afternoon. What was that, you ask? Maybe you’ll find out later this week …
What did you do Saturday? What do you have cooking today? What’s blooming right now where you live?
How beautiful! (The steaks AND the blossoms!) 🙂

Nothing like the start of the Barby season Mark, outdoors, beautiful weather and a few beers to welcome the Spring. Potatoes look great and your crab apples have a beautiful blossoming colour.

Yesterday I took the tank off and made sure it is full of propane for the rest of the season up here, Ian. After that, though, it poured down rain and knocked most of those colorful blossoms right off the darn crabapple. Short blooming season for her this year. Have a good day in Oz, sir.

The Mister sorta declared that Saturday would be spent lazily at home. However, he did go out to the DQ round 8 🙂
I also had to bust out the hose yesterday, but then, of course, it finally rained after, lol!
Crabapple looking good!

In the pink is gorgeous, Mark. I tried taking photos of red flowers today. I’m horrid at it. Have you ever tried? Any luck or advice? Dinner looks tasty. A perfect day!

I found a blooming rose for my mom and just planted it for her. A Queen Elizabeth. My mom had me plant it just so, so when she sits inside her home and looks out the front door she can see it’s regalness. She asked, as she raised her hand and gave a royal wave, if it would give her a royal tally ho every once in awhile. I told her I hoped so. It has a beautiful few blooms on it now….I hope it keeps at it. She has quite a few blooming things….but I couldn’t tell you what they are! Hahahahahahahaha! 🙂

Yesterday after only eight trips to Costco (to check out grills, to go back to get picture for hub of Grill Of My Dreams, to go back again for answers to hub’s questions about GOMD, to go back again after we agree to buy GOMD only to find they are sold out, to go back again–twice but it was still easier than getting Costco on the phone–to see if they had restocked and then realize it wouldn’t fit in my car, to the final all seats folded sans-dog trip to actually buy the GOMD), I put our new grill together while the hub dismantled its rusted out predecessor. Much, MUCH swearage and several bottles of beer later, we cooked GOMD hamburgers. In the rain, of course. It’s still Glasgow.

Glasgow Grill Adventures. Gack. Poor Barb. I hate that grills must be assembled at home. I hate that the best grills are too big for our regular vehicles. I hate the whole dang process. I love eating the grilled meats. Thanks, Barb, for persevering. 🙂
