Hello, Rose of Sharon (and more)

My dear wife Karen’s careful clipping up front at A Bitty Better in the Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville has paid off again this month of August. She asked if I’d looked closely at the tallest of our front yard garden plants last weekend. The Rose of Sharon had bloomed, big and bright. I had to…

Hands in the air and donate to a good cause

On my work walk for a good morning cup of Dunkin’ on Friday, I noticed the spot a block down from the library in the Village of Liverpool surrounded by police. No joke! And no crime. The local police departments were helping raise money or several deserving charities. Good work, all.

Follow the baby birds

After I’d already hopped into my car with my first-work cup of coffee from Nichols, I caught sight of a momma bird leading her out-of-the-nest family across First Street. I stopped my car right there in the middle of the Village of Liverpool, grabbed my iPhone 8 from my side pocket and did the best…

Not just cars, but trucks, too

Vintage trucks hung out around my place in the world this past weekend, too. The history of cool vehicles pre-dates me. Finally, something. Ha. What’s the difference between vintage, antique, classic and old? How much you take care of something, maybe? This one probably isn’t a truck, but definitely is cool. More tomorrow.

Hoods up!

The parking lot of the Holiday Inn at the crossroads of Electronics Parkway and Seventh North Street is one prime place to check out the classic cars gathered for the yearly Syracuse Nationals show. Today we’ll concentrate on the autos with their lids lifted for closer inspection. Obviously, the owners want to show off the…

Better off red

The vintage cars are in town for the annual party that goes by the name of The Syracuse Nationals. When I got off from work from the library Friday, I took a quick left on Electronics Parkway. I know from the past few years that the auto owners like to gather in the lot of…

My wife chimes in with her great taste

Did you see the new decoration?, my dear wife Karen wondered one day of a piece she added to the side alcove, under the overhang, right on the edge of the backyard. Yes, I did. Did you like it? Yes, my heart is into her sense of what goes best with our life.

Our rose blooms are coming on strong

The long-running winter of 2017-18 changed a lot about spring and summer in our Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville, I’m certain. But as we move through June, I’m happy to look in our backyard and report this fact: The roses are coming out strong. On both sides of our walkway, they prosper.

No customers but plenty of merchandise at the yard sale

You never know what’s going to catch my eye as I stroll the blocks around A Bitty Better in the Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville. Recently I spied a Yard Sale sign at the corner of the closest apartment complex. Sometimes I walk without Ellie B aka Dogamous Pyle, say, if it’s too hot and I…
