One pretty bloom will do

The survivor. My dear wife Karen placed two bulbs in the corner of the garden fronting our house. Both came up. One of the two yielded its pretty white flower. The other must have been munched in the process, Karen thinks.

Count us in

Skelly in wine country. Elisabeth thinks my dear wife Karen and I need to join them for a trip to the Three Brothers Winery. Looks good to me from her texted photo. Hey, they even have a motorcycle-riding Skelly!

Center pieces

Montezuma. George Two repeatedly shows a good eye for locating and sharing the main piece as he visits significant spots around Central New York. I am always happy to receive the photos in his texts. His trip with Elisabeth and George Three to wineries adds to my collection for sure. Stubborn burro, I think. Did…

Winery time

I know that face. I started receiving texts from daughter Elisabeth and George Two on the same afternoon. It didn’t take me but a glance at words and photos to figure out that kids and parents were on a trip to wine country together. Yes, his photo of my kid peeking around this whatever-it-is was…

Hello, Susans

Welcome again. When July is getting ready to say hello to August, the thick crop of Black-Eyed Susans that sit between our house and the next-door neighbors know it’s time to push out their yellow heads. I like their emergence. This year, their greenery is thick, indeed. The flowers up top appear a bit thinner…

You oughta be in pictures

The big final scene. Over at Elisabeth and George Three’s living room, good rescue cat Ava has discovered another cozy landing place for family TV time. Roll credits.

They screamed for ice cream

What they offer. George Three was out doing yard work, says Elisabeth, and waved down the ice cream truck. Yes, she wanted some. We did not hear it one mile over at our house after getting the text. My dear wife Karen would have been ready, I think.

Cute koalas brighten zoo visit

Down under to down the block. Terrific daughter Elisabeth and her friend Megan were greeted by cuddly new residents when they attended a recent edition of Brew at the Zoo. Koalas Kumiri and Kolet now make the Rosamond Gifford Zoo home. I think visitors of all ages will admire the species that come from Australia.

Wet weekend at the races

Indoor weather. Georges Two and Three recently took off a couple of hours south and west for their annual weekend visit to upstate New York’s wonderful motor sports racetrack, Watkins Glen. It rained. A lot, George Two reported to me via text. Soggy. My dear wife Karen and I both thought the guy above was…

Great lily contrast

Another beauty. The second color of day lilies blooming for my terrific daughter Elisabeth and George Three over at their place is a wonderful contrast to the original yellow/orange, she and I believe. Cheers to the contrasts of nature.
