Winter sky

Great cover. I saw two squirrels in my neighbors’ tree, one gray and one black. I do believe I was quick enough to catch them. Yes, up there. They sure have great natural camouflage, though.

Covered rhododendron

Sleep well. The cold and snowy February has left me wondering what it will mean for what has been our hardy backyard rhododendron. I sure hope it will rebound come spring and summer from its months-long cover of snow.

February feel

Still February. I know it should feel like we’re through the winter tunnel and heading toward spring. Yet this year, I just feel winterized when I walk around our backyard. Can’t shake it. No matter which direction I turn, the sky and surrounding trees seem to be in state of slumber.

No blooms this winter

This year’s rose pose. In the past several winters, I’ve snuck in a photo or two of a roque rose bloom from our yard. This winter shows a quite different stature. Get your sleep. Steady snow cover and cold through January and February has left our roses in a deep slumber.
