Going, going, not gone

Deep to center. Here’s the field that greeted us when we arrived for this year’s Syracuse Mets open house at NBT Bank Stadium. I decided as the event wound down over the course of two-plus hours that I could accomplish my own version of iPhone time-lapse photography. Settling down. It wasn’t warming up much, but…

Home opener is coming fast

Eager to get those tickets. Of course my dear wife Karen and I planned our arrival at NBT Bank Stadium with terrific daughter Elisabeth and George Three to get me in prime position to nab our tickets for the Syracuse Mets home opener the minute to ticket windows opened on open house day. I was…

Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Met

Welcome to Syracuse. At a previous Syracuse Mets open house, terrific daughter Elisabeth urged me to ask General Manager Jason Smorol during the finishing question-and-answer session why famous mascots Mr. Met and Mrs. Met don’t come around NBT Bank Stadium, ever. He handed the query over to front office colleague Kathleen McCormick, who told the…

Does anybody really know what time it is?

The kind I have to change by hand. I’m an hour off today. Welcome to Daylight Savings Time. Spring ahead. That’s the saying I use to remember the havoc thrust upon my b body at this time yearly. When I wake up, it will still be dark. Heck, when I drive my dear wife Karen…

Mets on my mind

Even delayed on the MLB Network … I’ve watched my New York Mets a handful of times already this spring. Every time they’ve been on. It’s soothing to see the green grass of spring training games on our living room big screen as we get through a typical Central New York early March of cold.…

A dusting

Roller coaster March. It’s been warm. It’s been cold. It’s snowed some. March has come in like a confused month, indeed.

Ready for spring

Comfy indoors. Our backyard fig tree has enjoyed its winter inside. This is its third indoor season with us, and to my eye at least, its biggest sprawl in my dear wife Karen’s dressing room. Bring on the warmth and sun of spring. We want to eat figs from this beauty come fall.

Taking care of the kitties

Izzy and Vinny, left and right. We had our first shifts taking care of the kitties. Terrific daughter Elisabeth had a work trip up north, and fantastic George Three decided to take a couple days to accompany her. My dear wife Karen and I were thrilled to run over to their house to fill the…

A dozen years!

WordPress called my time tapping at the keyboard with their platform an achievement. I started this blog 12 years ago, their A1 apparently flagged them. My start was cautious. I didn’t even take photos. Or use clip art. All I knew was that after getting laid off by the big daily with four decades of…

Corner for the plow company

So much snow. Our plow company’s email-sender said he put a bedroom in the company’s new offices, and used it frequently this winter. As I look to the high pilfe where the drivers push the snow from our driveway, I am happy with their work and glad they come to our house, for sure.
