Our own lilac finds its bloom

Been there. We’re thinking about going to the Lilac Festival in Rochester again because we enjoyed it so much our first visit last year. First my dear wife Karen and I get to watch the slow bloom of our veteran backyard lilac out by the shed.

Dogwood, dearly

Take your time. This spring, our beloved front-yard dogwood tree decided to come out in bits and pieces. Some years it has bloomed all at once. It has its own mind, obviously.

Ready for some sunny days

Grow time. The near corner of our backyard has a new member thanks to our recent visit to friendly neighborhood nursery Ballantyne Gardens. My dear wife Karen says the yarro will do well in this spot of full sun.

Looking for a corner of bright red

OK, now thrive. Little by little, my dear wife Karen and I will fill the borders of our backyard with the plants that will make us smile when they bloom. This time we brought a bright red bleeding heart back from our friendly neighborhood nursery Ballantyne Gardens. Karen got it in the back corner right…

Pretty spring day

So much to ahh about. Look. Like. Look some more. Pick a nice day to stroll friendly neighborhood nursery Ballantyne Gardens is a rite of spring for my dear wife Karen and I. Pond, too. Finally, though, we made a decision on just two for this trip. I’ll show you them in our yard in…

What goes good here

Good choices. In case we were wondering, owners Lisa and Tim make it easy for strollers through their friendly neighborhood nursery Ballantyne Gardens to decide what to bring home. We like to look things over and discuss what would go best where, of course. And I like to admire how they set things up in…

Gotta go to Ballantyne Gardens

Keeping their heads. When my dear wife Karen I jumped out of our car for our annual spring visit to friendly neighborhood nursery Ballantyne Gardens, I veered left to an interesting sight just inside the main front doors while she took to the outdoor plant displays. Owners Lisa and Tim have added chickens to their…

Transplant the pop of color

Looking strong. My dear wife Karen decided the lavender up front was thick and hardy enough to spare a spade’s worth or three for the backyard corner. So far, so good.

Return of the white tulips

Bounceback year. Year two with our new backyard fence has my dear wife Karen and I looking out at the border to see what may have come back after a season of spring trampling during the switch from old to current. The white tulips made it through the construction! We did rejoice. We agree that…

Warming up the golf season

Pine Grove smiles. Week two of my golf season included a visit to Pine Grove for a rain-free round with Tater and Nolan. Interesting par-four layout. It was way warmer. And my game was better for it. Four pars for me. Better swings. Improved attitude. You betcha we talked about an upcoming round three.
