It’s rhododendron time
A sturdy start. The present from Elisabeth and George Three is back for another year of providing backyard smiles. The gorgeous pink blooms of my dear wife Karen’s rhododendron have burst to a prominent 2023.

New arrivals. George Three was excited to text over the photo from his parents’ front door. The nesting place in the decorative spring wreath had gone from eggs to baby birds. Happy spring, indeed! And when they leave the roost, George Two and Sue can go back to using that way of getting in and…
Let the fun begin. My dear wife Karen, terrific daughter Elisabeth and great guy George Three decided to start downtown Syracuse’s festival season 2023 with a bright stroll the sights and sounds of Crawfish Festival. Play on. We were joined by thousands of others who wanted to take in the music, food and sights. A…
One by one. Our Onondaga Lake trees were taking on their spring additions on their own pace. That’s one of the great factors of this season, noting the changes one by one.
On duty? I spied during a recent Onondaga Lake Park loop this big dog lying in wait as its humans went about doing spring things. The pooch paid me no attention, choosing to watch the action out yonder toward the playground instead.
Back to the square. Festival time has arrived, and we’ve got the billboard to prove it. It seems like only yesterday that my dear wife Karen and I went to the Crawfish Fest’s Inner Harbor edition to bring ourselves home some spicy shrimp trucked up from Louisiana. May good food and happy dancing be on…
Can’t seem to miss it. A truck seems to smack into the bridge on our Onondaga Lake Parkway, oh, once a week. In fact, the news broadcast just said it’s been hit 49 times in three years and three times in the last month. What, no notice of it’s low clearance? Yes, that’s low. We…
Right on! One of our drive-around hopes was to catch a glimpse (and photo) of one of the hundred or so American bald eagles that call the trees that surround our Onondaga Lake home these days. We pulled into several spots we know they like. I’ve seen them flying and resting in branches. No luck…
You never know where you’ll find an emoji these days, says George Two. Emotions under the bridge?
Egg-leaving types? The bird house on the side yard may sit empty, but the hanging bird bath/drinking fountain on the nearby tree at Sue and George Two’s house is popular this spring. Happy bird-watching!
