Put flashing lights on the bridge, says George Two

Can’t seem to miss it. A truck seems to smack into the bridge on our Onondaga Lake Parkway, oh, once a week. In fact, the news broadcast just said it’s been hit 49 times in three years and three times in the last month. What, no notice of it’s low clearance? Yes, that’s low. We…

We know the eagles are at our lake

Right on! One of our drive-around hopes was to catch a glimpse (and photo) of one of the hundred or so American bald eagles that call the trees that surround our Onondaga Lake home these days. We pulled into several spots we know they like. I’ve seen them flying and resting in branches. No luck…

Meanwhile at the bird bath

Egg-leaving types? The bird house on the side yard may sit empty, but the hanging bird bath/drinking fountain on the nearby tree at Sue and George Two’s house is popular this spring. Happy bird-watching!

Sue’s birds have their own ideas

Built for Sue’s sake. Before George Two and I left their yard, Sue had to show me a spring development right there. George Three and Two had teamed to build a sturdy and worthy bird house on their side yard. But … The neighborhood birds had other ideas for April nesting. Inviting, yes? That’s a…

One XL sycamore, coming up

It took two of us to measure it’s circumference. When George Two says he knows of an -est in our part of the world, believe it. We took off for Solvay to take a look at his guess for the biggest tree in the area. Well, the widest sycamore, anyway. Jack wasn’t around to climb…

Savoring the pink and white trees

Row of spring pretty. George Two and I figured the time was right for our second afternoon tool-around to capture some interesting Central New York sights to share. We start-and-stopped close to both our houses so I could catch white and pink trees with my iPhone. Franklin Square lines them up. We expected big things…

Hello to your new year, front dogwood

Our front yard dogwood has started its short flowering hello. The buds have given away to the first delicate white petals. A bit of exposure will allow a bit of deepening to the color. Then a big wind will send them all to the lawn. My dear wife Karen and I will appreciate all stages.

Our white tulips open out back

Pretty made all in a row. Our white tulips have made quite an elegant entrance on the left side of our backyard, much to the delight of my dear wife Karen and I. They took a week or so longer than their red-orange counterparts to the left. It’s the sun angles, we figure.
