Ready for spring

Comfy indoors. Our backyard fig tree has enjoyed its winter inside. This is its third indoor season with us, and to my eye at least, its biggest sprawl in my dear wife Karen’s dressing room. Bring on the warmth and sun of spring. We want to eat figs from this beauty come fall.

Taking care of the kitties

Izzy and Vinny, left and right. We had our first shifts taking care of the kitties. Terrific daughter Elisabeth had a work trip up north, and fantastic George Three decided to take a couple days to accompany her. My dear wife Karen and I were thrilled to run over to their house to fill the…

Corner for the plow company

So much snow. Our plow company’s email-sender said he put a bedroom in the company’s new offices, and used it frequently this winter. As I look to the high pilfe where the drivers push the snow from our driveway, I am happy with their work and glad they come to our house, for sure.

Wave to the flags

Sideways. What came with the snow and cold, I thought as I walked around our front yard on the odd sunny moment this winter. Wind. Look at the straight-out flags at the town offices, for sure.

Shedding winter?

When will I need to get in there? Geez, I thought as I knocked down icicles and cleared a swath to open our back screen door for our cherished rescue mutt, the backyard shed surely has felt this winter’s bombast, too. The pool equipment and lawn mower seem far off, in my mind.

Farewell, February

Hanging out. For most of February, my dear wife Karen relished our cozy home and viewed the constant cold and snow from the inside out. When our cherished rescue mutt could no longer exit the back door to do her thing, I had to go out with a shovel. Not only did I see the…

Rose bush below

Hang in there, little beauty. February has been a rugged month for our front-yard corner rose bush. There hasn’t been a lot of places to deposit the daily snow deposit to our walkway to the front door and driveway. The tippy-top of the rose bush is still sticking out. I promise that’s it.

February sun with the lake view

Good things, too. We haven’t had too many days to cherish a blue sky this month in our part of this planet. Snow, cold. Cold, snow. When I noticed the chance to match the high snow against our lake view with a clear sky this past weekend, I pulled out the good camera on my…

One more lingering look

Thank you for this beauty. No matter the weather, I think before I veer sharply to the left toward my car, I surely am glad that a few-minute drive no matter the season gets me to Onondaga Lake Park and its walking trails.
