A beaten path. Our cherished rescue mutt appreciated that the alcove allowed her some leeway from the big snow. The pesky wind let some of the white stuff in nevertheless.
Waiting for the icicles. More proof that I cleared just enough to open our back door to allow the cherished rescue mutt to escape that way.
Got that door open. I finally worked my away around with a shovel to clear the path to opening our back door. Our cherished rescue mutt was certainly glad for another way out to the backyard.
Good for the job. A mile down the road at Elisabeth and George Three’s house, he takes care of their property with a great snowblower. He had lots to clear with this big January snow, and noted just how much was in their driveway with a yardstick.
Didn’t get back to clear there yet … It took a bit during the initial forces of the snow for me to get motivated to wind my way to the back deck and clear a path to that door. Until then, our cherished rescue mutt had to go out the side door instead. Here’s what…

Piled by me. It’s always good to have a measuring tool while judging how large something might be. That is a full, adult-sized snow shovel I used to tidy up our front walk and driveway after the huge snow to start 2026.
Out my front door. We said bye to 2025 and welcomed the new year in our part of the world with snow. Lots of snow. Here’s what it looked like outside my front door after some efforts of shoveling on my part. I’ll show more in the next several days.
