Cheers to the station wagon

Can lug a family of five. It’s a good thing to come along a station wagon that reminds you of what your father used to haul your mom and your sisters around Long Island in the way, way back.

Cheers for 340

Great color combo. The beige 340 looked sleek compared to some of the longer models gathered in the hotel lot next to the McDonald’s. I bet it’s had some fun miles under its wheels.

Classic white

Cheers to the long Chevy. The powerful looking white Chevrolet certainly looked sharp, awaiting what was to come on classic car weekend in Syracuse.

Go big blue

That’s a paint job. The blue stripes on this baby most certainly caught my eye as I appreciated the classic cars collected in the hotel lot next to the McDonald’s.

To the wayback

A real beauty. A crowd was gathering around this red beauty in the hotel parking lot next to the McDonald’s. It was so wonderfully restored, I thought. Or maintained throughout the decades … Anyway, one guy was joking that he came out from his room to get breakfast and found it washed by somebody else.…

I must seek out the classic cars

So well maintained. It’s a big weekend in Central New York when the classic cars roll back in for the Syracuse Nationals event. The official hoo-ha is at the New York State Fairgrounds, but for me the fun has evolved into finding a local parking lot where they congregate and I can leisurely stroll and…

The boys are back

We can! It’s a good stretch of days when KP lands back in our Syracuse area each summer, returned from his lovely home with wife Sue in the Atlanta area to visit family and friends. Yes, we do get back on the golf course. Tater, Nolan and I kicked off a three-game series with a…

A bobble head for the kid

Looks like him! Terrific daughter Elisabeth admitted a case of FOMO when the rest of the family declared we’d decided not to attend the Syracuse Mets game that included a Mark Vientos bobblehead giveaway with admission to the first 1,000 ticket holders. Too hot lately. Rain in the forecast. That morning before the gates opened,…

On track

By the tower … My dear wife Karen and I decided a several-hour drive to the east to take in a day of horse racing at Saratoga Race Course would be an excellent adventure, indeed. After following the pleasant workers to a good five-buck parking spot, I decided it would be a good idea to…

Pretty art and more

Positioning is everything. A recent stroll through downtown Syracuse found that the summertime plants had been hung on Salina Street. I liked the way it set up next to the big bank building mural.
