Lighten up

I see you, clown. No tears or fears when I conjured up a clown face inside the array of this light display along the trail path at Onondaga Lake Park. What do you get from this Lights on the Lake cluster?

Quality park time

Great sky. What would my big local park offer me in this part of December, wondered after parking in the Village of Liverpool and strolling down toward Onondaga Lake. Yes, a lonely bare tree against the striking water, clouds and sky was a great greeting.

Art where you find it

Whatever you think. Outside the tall downtown Syracuse office building sits this new to me on my annual stroll striking piece of art. It’s red. It looks to be metal. Or plastic. Possibly bendy. Being December and all, I thought of a homemade bow being tied on top of a present. What say you?

Rink, quiet

Waiting for the hustle, bustle. My walk through Clinton Square brought hope to see a skater or two on the downtown Syracuse rink. Too wet, I thought, so I continued my annual stroll to see what might be new.

Downtown still shines

All decked out. My daily pursuits led me to a December visit to downtown Syracuse. Of course I needed to walk past Clinton Square for my annual photo clicks of the decorated tree and adjacent areas. The grass was green and nobody was skating as a light rain fell. The artificial tree still looked sharp,…

Lazy day

Morning mood. Our cherished rescue mutt owns the living room as daylight starts to emerge on a mid-December morning. She chooses to stretch out and take things easy.

Cool December sunrise

Between snow events. Our backyard appreciates that time on a mid-December morn where nature can breathe in the emerging sunlight. I enjoyed catching it from our back door.

My wife know how to pick my birthday gift

Ready to celebrate in style. My dear wife Karen and I finished purchasing a couple bottles of Cab Sav for me plus a bottle for her to bring to Georgia’s for a cookie exchange afternoon when the clerk pointed to a carton at the end of the counter and exclaimed, That’s your’s, too. Wrong, said…

Hot stove season …

Opening day dreams. Officials from the major-league squads are meeting with agents from free agents and conferring with colleagues about potential trades. Meanwhile, this fan was looking out over the Syracuse Mets field and thinking about Opening Day, come April 1, 2025, and who will be a Met here and there. After this event, I…

Back in the day …

Maybe I was there. When the new stadium for Syracuse’s Triple A baseball team first opened, it had artificial turf. The team was called the Syracuse Chiefs. Its parent club was the Toronto Blue Jays. I think I took time off from my job at the big daily to go to the game.
