Great community feeling

Just follow the path. The text from terrific daughter Elisabeth pointed to a Syracuse community event I’d not attended in my 40 years living in Central New York. Sure, dear wife Karen and I will join you and George Three for a Saturday morning excursion to the Tipperary Hill neighborhood Peter and Paul Church. Built…

Travel statement

Team baggage unveiled … New team luggage must have been in the budget, I thought, as I looked at the lineup of Mets bags awaiting fan purchase at the Syracuse Mets Garage Sale 2023. Snazzy, yes. I did not go for it. Replacing the Bialczak team luggage is not in our budget this year. I…

Slightly worn?

Going, going … First rack up at the 2023 Syracuse Mets Garage Sale for George Three and lots of other folks was the collection of batting practice shirts, priced very well at $15 per bright orange T. After his rifling of the goods, George moved on. None to his size requirement. I didn’t even look.…

Field, dreams

Rest up. As Elisabeth and George Three walked on to the Metropolitan Room and the goodies unveiled for the 2023 Syracuse Mets Garage Sale, I looked left from the NBT Bank Stadium concourse and allowed the field’s aura to drift up and over me. Opening Day 2024 is March 29. Early for Syracuse, N.Y., yes.…

George Three and I joined her in the line to see what was up for our Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets this off-season. Onward to the merch. They kept strides ahead…

Still there for the pets

Dogs lining up around the block? Retired-guy-I was happy to see the corner pet care establishment still placing original statements, both sides of the sign, to draw four-legged friends in at the intersection of First and Tulip streets. Our cherished rescue mutt agrees. During my years working just-up-Tulip at the library, the folks at Furrever…

Outdoor living

Parking where they’re comfortable. Four lake birds show they’ll hang out over the private lot a block up from the water no matter what the man says.

Lone holdout

No give-up. Yes, retired-guy-I smiled to see a holdout boat docked in the Onondaga Lake Marina at the tail end of November. They can still fish, I imagined.

Joyful sunset

’Tis the season. I walk out the front door and look to the left to spot an orange glow, and I’m glad that my phone is in my left front pocket. The sky is the limit for a good mood.
