Angie says she won’t be blogging anymore

May 16, 2014 9:02 am

(From Word Press)

(From Word Press)

The email from Angie two days ago did not make me happy.

My blogging friend from Kentucky again was having trouble with her WordPress account. That’s putting it mildly. “WordPress hates me,” she wrote. “I’ve had to reset my password two times in the last two hours and none of them are working just like the last time, so I’m outta here.”

Last year, Angie got blocked out after the first few months at her first attempt in the WP blog world of ours. I noticed she was gone. I wrote a couple of emails to the WP help desk, asking them to contact her to see if they might be able to check if there were any solvable problems keeping her from sharing her thoughts with the world.

The solution then was for her to set up an entirely new blog account.

Angie bought her domain and forked over some dollars.

She’s retired. She named her blog “Train Wrecks” because she uses one of those mobility chairs to get around. Did I mention that Angie is battling MS? Or that one night in the 70s, she and her sister were enlisted to sing backup for Lynyrd Skynyrd? Or that they were offered a recording contract for Arista Records? Or that her favorite food is a concoction called burgoo?

It’s been fun reading Angie’s blog. She’s written every day, a mix between tales about her brothers, and her grands, and her battle to regain her health, and the odd management at the complex where she lives, and the more odd politicos who run her city, and tender tales of her huge family growing up.

A couple of weeks ago, Angie snuck in a line that said she’d gotten up out of that chair and walked around her apartment, for the first time in a very long while. I am convinced writing this blog has helped her frame of mind.

When I received that first email, I asked Angie to sleep on her decision.

Yesterday morning came: “I’m just too tired to fight it anymore. … It’s the same story as last time, and it took three or four months that time. No more comebacks.”

Damn.

I do not have any idea where the problem lies. I am far from a computer expert as I type out this story on my iPad with bluetooth keyboard. I do have Angie’s email, obviously, if there are any of you out there who feel that you may be able to talk her through the locked WP password process. If she’d even be willing to listen and give it a shot, that is. She is a fighter, though. Of that I am convinced.

Here’s the link to Angie’s blog. Go in there and see what I mean about this interesting lady. If it’s the last stuff she writes for us, the more eyes, the better.

To me, Angie is what blogging is supposed to be about, a woman who’s lived a big, full life wanting to share what she knows, what she wishes she knew, what she thinks she’ll learn, what we may discover from everything she’s gone through.

If there is another comeback in her, the world should be her audience.

  2. Mark, you are a very caring person to reach out and try to help Angie. It’s frustrating when things don’t work as we expect. For me, at work, I’ve found any computer problems I had were easily resolved by someone who knew just what to do.

I am delighted to read that Angie will be back online Sunday. I clicked over to check out her blog and am following it now.

  6. Hey everyone. It’s not completely set up yet, but I have started a new blog and will never ever change the password for any reason again. Haven’t even put my gravatar up yet, but it will still be Kentucky Angel’s Train Wrecks, and hope to have it designed by Sunday, Monday at the latest. It’s amazing what a couple of nights of sleep will do for morale. And finally completely out of the last relapse, so I’m enjoying an energy spurt right now and want to get it all out. Now to find a cure for allergies!!!!!

  17. I stopped by her site and read a couple of posts. That is a hard thing, when you get frustrated beyond your breaking point. WP has given me some trouble, but nothing like that. Winston Churchill told us to never give up, but sometimes you’re just tired tired tired. I hope she’ll reconsider, too.

    1. Do you have enough computer gee-whiz to maybe discover what she might be doing wrong in the password process? Maybe this happens a lot and there’s an easy bypass? I just don’t know, Jeanette.
