Bye, boats
Empty. When I strolled down from the Village of Liverpool to Onondaga Lake Park on a sunny November day, I figured the marina would be devoid of boats. Yes, no takers for water voyages.

November, always. I was due for a stroll at Onondaga Lake Park. It was time to see Lights on the Lake at daytime. I’ve been retired from my library job for a couple editions of the annual event now, but I still want to get my fill of walking past the displays at my own…
Pretty from our lawn. As I looked west after stepping our from our front door, I again celebrated the work done by the folks outside our town offices. The November sun setting over our improved lake view makes my dear wife Karen and I happy, indeed.
Our dear grandcat Ava. The family said bye to sweet rescue cat Ava this season. Terrific daughter Elisabeth and wonderful partner George Three had shared their lives with her for nine years. Of course the trip over the rainbow bridge for a beloved pet is not easy. We all were so sad. Welcome, Vinny and…
Purple flowers’ majesty. Walking our street with the cherished rescue mutt, my dear wife Karen and I have noticed the hillside of purple flowers springing up adjacent to the new pavilion gracing the Town Office property. Beautiful up close and from afar. They brighten up that hill, for sure. Of course, we wondered if they…
Great roof work. The pavilion that now flanks the Town Offices on our street has really rounded into shape this fall. Dance floor? It now includes an expansive concrete floor that extends far past the roof. My dear wife Karen and I also spied a pile of chairs and benches that likely will go on…
Barely. That big tree that stands guard in front of the Town Offices that I wondered about when it was full of red leaves a few weeks ago? They got brown and fell to the ground PDQ. Such is life on my street.
Out my back door. I know the mower will mulch and put the leaves in the bagger. When I get around to it. The question is: Do I get out there right away, or wait until more fall from the surrounding trees?
Brighten our day. We will always take a blooming rose in November. Other colors out back. The back roses show up for us, too.
Bloomed to the right. Caught on a surprise visit when the weather was warmer than it should have been in our part of the world: Black-eyed Susans, making an encore appearance for 2024.
