We arrived at Hancock International Airport in Syracuse, N.Y., before the clock had hit 5 a.m., giving us plenty of time to check our bags, pass through security and board the first of three planes that would take us westward that day.
Although the sun had yet to rise, somebody was enjoying the open restaurant representing Central New York’s Middle Ages brewery.
Our first stop was Minneapolis, and the transfer was smooth. Our plane appeared to land in tandem with another on a parallel runway. Nice work, pilots! I was too startled, nervous and perhaps even still a bit tired to pull my phone out to take a photo.

I was quick enough during our two-hour-plus layover to take plenty of photos, however, plus buy George a Twins shirt because he is one along with his brother Patrick.
Or second stop was Seattle, after passing over some mountain ranges labeled by my iPhone 6 camera GPS as Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Beautiful it was.
Twenty hours later, we landed at Kona International Airport at Keahole in daylight. We’d successfully chased the sun halfway across the earth, or six hours’ worth of time change. It was 6:30 p.m. Hawaiian time.
The terminal, including baggage claim, was open air.
We crossed the road for the ride to our rental SUV and our entry to our dream vacation.
How different this part of our world would be my dear wife Karen, wonderful daughter Elisabeth, terrific significant George Three and I for the next seven days, this trip for the second edition of the Miner Family Reunion. I’ll be posting about our adventures over the next several weeks. I hope you enjoy the photos and tales.
Tuesday: Oh, what a place to stay

🙂 That it does!!!! Our last trip to Ireland, though, the days were so long. And it was so beautiful to sit and write in the falling Irish sky and the rising Irish moon. The air was sweet. The scent was amazing….. **shakes my head** this is about YOUR trip. 🙂 I am so glad you had a great time.

Are you there for seven weeks, or do you just think that it will take that long to share everything with us? Will you be visiting other islands?

We landed on a Tuesday evening and got on a plane the following Tuesday afternoon, Doc Mark. I figure the six full days between and traveling gave me enough photos and stories to reach way into September here. I hope I don’t bore anyone …
