I decided to treat my dear wife Karen to dinner at The Limp Lizard a recent Monday night past.

And after her tasty Pork Carolina and my delicious Flank Steak Quesadilla, we strolled across First and Second streets to Johnson Park.

We can hear music.

Because each Monday and Wednesday nights through August, Liverpool Is The Place.

That’s the concert series that brings a diverse and talented lineup of Central New York performers to a stage at one end of the pretty green space that sits right across the street from my workplace at the Liverpool Public Library.

Yes, this is the right spot.

The concerts are popular.

Big time on a Monday night.

Sometimes, very popular.

This particular evening brought a big cast from BeatleCuse. That’s a yearly winter production put together by CNY musician and promoter Paul Davie, a big-time event that brings world-class stars to be backed by our formidably talented local musicians. This night showcased much of this Central New York talent, and music lovers were in the mood to appreciate it.

Bluegrass band Diamond Someday performs at 7 tonight, and New York Assembly representative Pamela Hunter will attend. She helped secure funds for the library’s new Book Bike Cart. That will be on hand at the show, too.
