The little temperature readout on the corner of the screen of “Today” reads 15º F this bright morning of March 11.
Dogamous Pyle aka Ellie B got me up at 6:45 a.m. to fill her bowl and let her out in the backyard of A Bitty Better in the Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville. I saw the sun peeking out, but it looked cold nevertheless.
So cold that my iPad Pro made it look foggy when I stepped onto the back porch for photo attempt No. 1. No, it was the lens.
So cold that the screen door also was steamed from the effort when I thought I might shoot the scene through the upper pane.
The lens recovered quickly enough to allow me a clear shot at attempt No. 3. Unfortunately, cloud cover had moved in over the sun.
So cold that by the time it took me to take these shots, Ellie B was barking at the side door to be let back in. That’s her routine. Out the back, in the side. Can’t change the pattern, not even when the big guy is still standing by the back door. She is just like her Pops.
Now the local weather break-in says the wind-chill is minus-6. It’s not going to warm up much, he says. Expect an inch or two of snow, too.
My dear wife Karen and I have been known to go to the St. Patrick’s Parade in downtown Syracuse.
Would you go to a St. Patrick’s Parade with the temperatures well below freezing and snow in the air? How’s the weather in your part of the world?
