Piling on

Who knows how long the melt will last.

The weather folks say lake effect may move back to the Syracuse area as soon as Thursday night.

So I had to point the iPhone 6s toward the backyard of A Bitty Better in the Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville.

Melted toward the right.

Melted toward the right.

Snow pile to the left.

Snow pile to the left.

A two-day warm up had melted every bit of snow except for the two piles I had thrown it after clearing the walkway and back deck.

It felt good to see some green again.

How is the weather where you live? How much snow have you seen lately? What are you expecting for the new year?

  1. I guess after growing up in Michigan and living many years in Chicago I’m blase… I actually can’t remember for sure if we’ve had a snow here in KY yet or not; I think a little. If it’s not eight inches or more, it doesn’t register 🙂 Although I’m often amused at the panicked reaction if we get enough snow to partially cover the grass… Mostly it’s been raining.

  2. This is a nice break from the recent blasts we’ve had, but the back-and-forth so early in the season is jarring. I’m going to start paying more attention to the daily forecasts so I know when to put the car in my newly-cleaned garage.

  3. It must not be quite as warm here. We got about 12″ of snow and about 8″ of it has melted. It was supposed to be a little warmer here today but the wind is super cold.

  4. Piling on here in the comment section, I shall share this random thought: Because of the time of year, I mis-read “lake effect” as “latke effect.” The weather in Boston has been unseasonably warm, melting all the snow. Warmest wishes to you, Mark, for the new year.
