My dear wife Karen and I wondered how life at A Bitty Better would be when the first major snow hit our life in the Liverpool neighborhood of Galeville.
We woke up in deep Monday morning.
Sunday’s weather forecasts had me prepared for early shovel action.
Yet you don’t really know what you’re going to face until you get out there and do it.
My socked-in driveway and buried vehicles took me 70 minutes to clear.
And when I came in to tell Karen I was finished, the plow came by to deposit a new pile, oh, three feet wide by a foot high at the end of the driveway.
I had enough time to clear it again, though. Waiting for me on my phone was a text from the library’s emergency system. The snow two miles away in the Village of Liverpool had convinced my bosses to close the Liverpool Public Library for the day.
I jumped on our Facebook and Twitter pages to alert our patrons not to attempt to visit us. They could still take advantage of all of the great benefits of our site LPL.org, though.

I wondered the rest of Monday how many more times I would shovel before leaving for work Tuesday.
Have you had a big snow where you live yet? Have you ever had this much snow to clear where you live? Would you now hire a snowplow guy if you were me or stubbornly cling to the shovel?
We haven’t had our first snow fall yet this year.. thankfully! I hate that when the snowplow comes by. That stuff is so hard to shovel!

I hope it’s not too tough on you when you get the first one, Jen.

Someone told me that other day that the farmers almanac is predicting a warm but very snowy year. I hope they’re right about the warm but wrong about the snow!

That’s a fair amount of snow, Mark. And here I was complaining that I had to scrape frost off my windshield this morning.

WOW! I’m loving where you live – even with the snow! Only ever seen snow like that when we were in Switzerland. Steve and I went ‘sledging’ down the hillside on a sheet of plastic; it was a lot of fun!

I hope it was a thick sheet of plastic, Rachel. Yow!

Goodness! Still never held a snow shovel in my hand, probably never will. We’re still running the a/c in the car while singing, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.” I guess we have to sing all carols tongue in cheek, while you actually live the lyrics.

Kerbey, may you never, ever have to shovel the white stuff as I do. But please sing away, always.

Looks beautiful and a little more beautiful was the fact that you got to stay home and enjoy it… or spend the day shoveling. In either case, still nice to spend it with the wife. We’re still waiting on our big snow dump of the year, but we’ve gotten a couple snow storms so far, so we’re happy.

Maybe the snow dump will stay away this year, Me Who. You never know. And, yes, my dear wife was home as well, but she was hard at work the whole day on her laptop.

We’ve had several two-feet dumps in town where I live in the past. No snow yet in town this year, which is unusual but a chance of snow in the next several days is on the horizon…

I’m glad you’ve yet to get blasted, Beth. I shoveled again at 4:30 p.m. The good news was, this morning at 6:15, I only had a few inches to clear! Now I’m ready for my work day. 🙂
