A special concert in Homer opens its doors to Veterans for free

My friend Tom Honan is doing a good thing for those who’ve served.

The music promoter put together a special Veterans Day show, at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Homer Center of the Arts.

And his Live Space Entertainment company will let all Veterans into the concert for free.

Professor Louie and the Crowmatix will headline, with the Central New York all-star collection, the Rock of Ages Horns (Jeff Stockham, Melissa Gardiner, Mike Dubaniewwicz and Frank Grosso.) Singer-songwriter Kevin Barrigar will also perform. Doors open at 7 p.m., at the pretty spot some 30 miles south of Syracuse. Tickets are $20 for everybody else.

Here’s a YouTube video I shot of Professor Louie and his band mate Miss Marie playing at the Palace Theater in
Eastwood several years ago.

Here’s what Honan said in his news release:

ALL MILITARY VETERANS ARE INVITED FREE to the show that features GRAMMY nominated, Blues Hall of Famers Professor Louie and the Crowmatix, an all-star band featuring musicians who have played and toured with Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Joe Jackson and Levon Helm.

This high-energy, Americana-blues concert will feature a wide range of American music rooted in the incredible Rock and Roll era of the 1960’s and 1970’s, with the band playing many familiar songs by the greats who inspired them as well as originals that have defined their sound.

Several Veterans organizations will have information on veteran resources available.

Tickets are available at www.center4art.org. By phone: 877-749-ARTS (2787).

Honan also is an accomplished photographer. He sent me some pictures that he thought were appropriate for this special show.

What are your plans for Veterans Day? Do you have somebody you honor the most?
