The weather guy on the morning show is using the word squall.
Not here, not so far, this Monday morning in the backyard of our Little Bitty in the Syracuse city neighborhood of Eastwood.
As I let Ellie B aka Dogamous Pyle out to greet our first snow of the season, there was no wind whistling nor heavy white sheet in the air. A gentle blanket lay on the lawn to greet our beloved rescue mutt for her morning sniff.
The sun rose to meet its challenge of Thanksgiving week. That weather guy said the high today will be 37, coldest so far as we head toward winter 2015-16.
There may be a little more snow Tuesday, he said, but warmer weather will return for those traveling for the holiday. We’ll be staying home for turkey and the younger generation right here.
Up front, our new cherry tree proudly met its namesake for the first time. Snow Fountain, I believe it said on the tag this spring as we put it into the ground. Cherry Cherry is what we named her after asking you all here to chime in. She looks good in white.
Have you tasted your first snow yet, and if so, how much? What do you usually do for the first snow? What do you usually do for the second snow?
What a beautiful place you live in! No snow here, but wild winds, and unbelievable serious amounts of rain. We live on top of a hill and have always been grateful for that when the lower lands were affected by floods, but even here this winter, my flower beds have flooded, and that has never happened in all the years we’ve lived here. The water table must be riding mighty high. Glad the outlook for the holidays is mild for you. Not sure what’s expected here. Would love the grey clouds to part and show us some blue sky for a while… it is still blue, isn’t it???

I hope you get some blue for the holidays up on your Gaelic hill, my dear friend Ali. Please correct me if it’s not a Gaelic hill. That feels so poetic for me to type on a Syracuse Saturday morning. ❤

Lol! Yes, it definitely is a Gaelic hill. Our house is called Ard Baile (pronounced Ord bolya) which means high home or dwelling place.

I live in a desert. If I were going to miss anything about living in a real world, I would miss snow. I haven’t seen snow it like 15 years.

Poor sad little cherry tree bro Mark. Still pretty though, even when droopy from the cold. Makes me feel droopy just thinking about snow, so you can please keep that stuff up north this year. I stay here because we usually don’t have to deal with it. Just never know how to dress around here lately. 55 right now, but 21 on Sunday last, Hopefully nice tomorrow. Doesn’t really matter all that much though, because hibernation mode has set in.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and DW Karen. As well as your family. Don’t overeat, and enjoy your dinner.

At 9:30 pm, it is 60 wonderful degrees bro Mark. Rain moving in, and I’m heading out early in the morning for my first Black Friday experience, but intend to have a ball! There has to be a first time for everything, right?

Enjoy it, sis Angie. I’m getting set to work my first Black Friday retail experience. Oh, boy!

It surely is beginning to look a lot like Christmas there. We’re in the 70s today. I’m wearing a tank top and shorts. But each night, when we watch Hallmark movies, the couple kisses at the end and snow falls, so we DO see a lot of snowfall that way. Cool pictures, Mark!

We get our seasons outside the window, Kerbey. But it is going to be 60 on Black Friday, they say! 🙂

Had about four to five inches over the weekend. While I talked to friends who were out and about, ferrying kids to and fro, I hunkered down. It was lovely. My own winter wonderland, replete with fire. Was a bit magical, with trees looking like they were painted. I’ll take it:).

We had our first snow while I was in Montreal enjoying 13-18c (56-68f)temperatures. It’s amazing how quickly one can acclimatize though, I’m determined to enjoy winter this year Mark. Love your photos! ❤

No snow in Virginia … but I was complaining this morning that today’s weather forecast was calling for “abundant” sunshine — which I took to mean more sunshine than I could ever need. But, if it’s so abundant why can’t it warm us up to 60?

We’re going to hit 60 here late this week, TBB, which in late November in Syracuse, is an abundance of Fahrenheidt, for sure!

No snow here yet. I’m in total denial that it might happen. It’s chilly today, but it’s supposed to be back in the 60s for Thanksgiving.
We don’t do anything special for the first or second snow. For the third, we complain more.
Of course, when the girls were little, I always made cocoa and cinnamon toast or cookies for them when they came in from playing in the snow.

There was snowfall all around us, and I’m talking real snow, like a foot of snow, like white out conditions. But for some happy reason we’re still snow-free, despite the fact that I’ve got my winter tires on, which is usually an open invitation.

Dang, Jay. There you go with two words that make me shudder through-and-through. White-out. Sigh.

Here in Carolina, we won’t hear about snow until closer to spring. for the first snow, we’ll ravage store shelves for milk and bread. For the second snow, we’ll write to the school board, because they’ll take days off our spring break as makeup days! #tradition

Y’all get too many ice storms, as I recall, Coach. And that’s really a scary tradition! Plus, when you get that snow, you have no equipment to remove it from the roads. Now that’s a #bummertradition

Well I took some pretty pictures of our first snow on Saturday. In an unusual turn of events, we got big, fat, sticking snow for the first snow of the season. We had some errands, so The Mister drove us around a bit, and boy was it beautiful!
Today it’ll get up to 41, although there is a windchill. Thursday will have us back at unseasonably warm, 60 and cloudy it says.
I love the snow. Sadie and I have been taking longer and longer walks now that it’s cold but not too cold 😀

We only had frost this morning, with a temp of 23 degrees. Snow is supposed to come in this afternoon, but only a small amount is predicted. Just to be safe, I made sure there’s a snow brush in my vehicle. Definitely not looking forward to it.
