For the last three weeks of this season for our little golf league, the owner at Northern Pines suggested to Commish that we switch from Monday to Wednesday night.
All eight of us gave the move the thumbs up.
We could start at 5:30, giving us an important extra 15 minutes of the waning daylight.
And the leagues ahead of us were faster, he promised.
Indeed. Both foursomes finished this week.
And it really is feeling like fall here in Central New York. On hole 7 above, I thought Bird looked comfortable beside an apple tree ready to yield its yearly bounty.
And Commish sure looks like a natural as part of the dusky landscape on the same hole.
On the green, the setting sun highlights the putting line for Bird.

Our foursome above was ready to pose for my iPhone 6 on the seventh tee. By then, we could tell that the switch to Wednesday night for these last three weeks had been a good one. It didn’t rain. The temperatures were below 70º F. And we were going to finish our nine holes without a rush.
Are things feeling like a change in seasons is coming where you live, and if so, what are the signs? Daybreak or dusk for a good walk outside for you, and why? Is apple picking in your past or future, and why?
No sign of Fall here at all, except for the slight slant in the sunlight. The geese seem to be flying South early this year, maybe they know something we don’t. Still blazing hot, although we are supposed to get a reprieve this week with the temperatures only reaching into the mid-nineties. The golf course looks beautiful. The temperatures are below 70 – that’s downright cold. How are you all walking around in short sleeves? You guys are tough over on the East Coast!!!

I wear shorts until it drops below 50, SD. Just sayin’. Want me to strike a pose for you on my next post? 😉 Sorry it’s so blazin’ hot in your parts still. Oy.

50s – eek – that is cold. Brrr!!!!! Yes – I think I could do an entire post on Mark wearing shorts in frigid temperatures. It will cool down by October – hopefully.

OK. I’ll remember that, SD. I hope you get your cool down by October. Yeesh.

Beautiful photos bro Mark. Autumn comes much earlier there apparently, but it is in the air around here now. Not so much temperature wise, except for a few lucky days, but just that feeling of change outside. Not to mention the feeling of rush about finishing my Christmas gifts. Eeewwweee, I said it. That means I’ll have to get my yarn sorted out in a hurry when I get down the hall — in 4 days and 10 hours, 40 minutes.

Beautiful photos and looks like a wonderful golf day! 🙂
The summer went by too quickly…but since I love Fall, I’m glad it’s showing itself already! Sun going down earlier and cooler night temps.
I like sundown walks…but my pooch and I walk several times of the day and night…and in the Winter we just bundle up and keep taking our walks. 🙂
When we lived near Julian, CA we enjoyed the apple pickin’ and eatin’ and, etc!
🍎 🍏 🍎 🍏 🍎 🍏 🍎 🍏 HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…have you ever used a fallen apple as a golf ball…you know, just give it a whack?!?! 😛

I also walk Ellie B aka Dogamous Pyle when the mood strikes me, all seasons, Carolyn. In the snow drifts, too. 😮
No whacking of the apples, my friend. Too messy on the clubs. 🙂

Cool mornings and evenings sure are welcome! The burning bushes have begun to turn. Apple picking will be done the week after Labor Day, and I’ll be bakin up a storm! 😀

Definite feeling of the seasons changing- cool nights, dark still when I get up at 5:30, leaves beginning to wither. I am so sad to see summer go

It is sad, Lisa. I do appreciate fall. Not the season that follows it so much anymore, however.

i feel it coming all around me, mark. fall is my favorite season of the year, but it’s always bittersweet to lose those long, warm days of summer. i’m an early morning person all the way, but it gets tougher as it gets colder and darker.

Mornings do get tougher to navigate in the dark, Beth, all the way around. 😦

Indeed, there is a chill in the air Mark – but I enjoy it. It reminds me of returning to school. I used to love going for walks in the fall air and hearing the leaves crackle on the path.

Yes, Paul, there is a vibe about the season that’s all good. However, today, back in the 80s, and way warm again all week here in Syracuse.
