Enough about the slow play and the waiting and setting sun and my grouchiness about all of the above.
This week the little golf league got off on time, both foursomes from the first tee at Northern Pines on the northeast outskirts of Syracuse.
Yes, there was a bit of a bottleneck at the second tee. So there we gathered.
Enjoying the fine Monday night, six o’clock style give or take a moment or two, are, left to right above: Mrs. Bird, DJ, Lovely Linda, Commish, Morelli, Amy and Bird. I’m behind my iPhone 6, of course. How’d we play? We hit ’em, and eventually they found their way to the bottom of the nine cups. Last week I shot my best of the season, a 42. This week, add … some.
But look at that picture. Sweet night, save for the ‘skeeters that feasted at holes eight and nine.
Dang it, I promised a no-rant week … My fault for not applying the bug spray.
What’s your favorite hour of the day, and why? Are the mosquitoes out this year where you live yet? After Commish and Lovely Linda pulled out to order wings in the clubhouse, we played as a sixsome coming in No. 9. Would you flaunt the rules like that?
Those darn skeeters! You are always allowed to rant about skeeters, we all have a free pass for that. Glad you shot your best of the season, Mr. B. 🙂

Thanks, Mrs. B. Last night I broke down and borrowed a couple of squirts of bug spray from Morelli. Much better! 🙂

Ahhh, now I see the connection between your post and my skeeter poem! Sorry they preferred you on the course.
I played softball for a Navy wives league when I lived in ME back in the 80’s. Sometimes our games wouldn’t start until 8 PM but it was daylight until almost 11 PM so the light wasn’t the problem, the mosquitoes were. By 10:30 the ball would be streaked with red from those blood filled pests. Side note: the season winning team was always the one who’s husbands were deployed for 6 months. All that pent up sexual frustration made for killers.

That must have been one hell of a competitive softball league with the Navy wives, DE. Killer squad of pent-up wives. Yikes. Let them take the extra base, I say.

Looks like a great start to a wonderful day, good friends good company and plenty of arse kickin Skeeters.
All turned out well according to your score.
Cheers.

Simply sweet story of seven Sir Mark. More than the skeeters, them slow players in front of you would make me sour. :p ❤

I’m glad you got to enjoy some Monday night golf! I like the wee hours. The dark, quiet hours when no one else is awake. The mosquitoes are always pretty bad here in the summer, but especially this summer, which has been extraordinarily wet and floody.

Yes, the wee hours can be grand, Joey. I awoke at 4 a.m. today to watch the British Open on TV. Very peaceful. Even Ellie B was still snoozing. 🙂 You are right. The wet weather is perfect for the skeeters. And this golf course is built in what is called the Cicero Swamp.
