The Chatham shoppers’ T-shirt reveal

The Life Is Good store in Chatham has made my dear wife Karen and I’s Traditions List on this annual pre-tourist-boom June week in Cape Cod.

And we love to buy each other one T-shirt, of course.

We choose our own. Look hard through the racks. Fancy what we love in life.

Football, yes.

I went with a guy lounging in a chair holding a football in his hand. You know, season ticketholder for the Syracuse Orange with MDW Karen for going on the seventh season now. New York Jets fan for life. Maryland alum who lives and dies with every Terrapin Saturday.

Karen picked the digging in the dirt theme for her love of our gardens out from and back of the Little Bitty back home in the Syracuse city neighborhood of Eastwood.

Was it a coincidence that there’s a dog lounging next to “us” on both of the shirts? Ask Ellie B aka Dogamous Pyle about that.

  2. I like t-shirts mainly with patterns but have 3 Indians, 4 OSU and a few 4th of July (or any patriotic holiday) ones. I would get a life is good one if I were to see one along my path in life, Mark. Yours are Perfect for you and Karen plus Ellie B. 🙂

    • They wear very well, too, so you must have REALLY wore it to bits, my friend. Yeah, get another because you love it so much. They change the styles it seems to me, though, so good luck finding that exact one, Joey.

  7. I’d have to go with the gardening- and life would not be complete without a dog 🙂 Your dear wife Karen is such a pretty lady- love that photo!
    (though after losing our 19 and 17 year old cocker spaniels we’re taking a break right now)

    • You had a really long time with your two cocker spaniels, Lisa. How fortunate you were. We had our previous rescue, beloved Lissa, for 15 years, and had to take two years off before we were ready for Ellie B to save us again. I know what you mean, my friend. My dear wife Karen, lovely lady indeed, knew she was ready when Ellie B jumped up to greet her wearing the orange ‘adopt me’ vest at a rescue event. 🙂

      • We were so fortunate, it was just terrible to watch one descend into senility, and then shortly after he died, the other became sick. I had a hospice in my kitchen for almost 4 years. Having them in our lives was amazing, but the heartbreak after losing them is still hard for me to think about sometimes.

  8. So cool Mark. I really like the material you chose. It is much more comfortable and durable than the thinner T-shirt material. Neat designs on he front as well. Those will stay favs for a long time I am sure.

  12. All I can say is, God bless Karen if she can get up off the ground without the dog’s help. I would have to crawl to the nearest chair to pull myself up. Sometimes I feel like I should star in one of those “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” commercials.

  17. What would Ellie B aka Dogamous Pyle have on her shirt? Also, not only does YDW Karen have a groovy name, she is beautiful — especially in that picture. I’ve seen these shirts but I didn’t know they were a thing.

    • Good question on the dog shirt, Hippie. Sleeping in the sun would be a big dog seller, I’d say. I agree that I caught MDW Karen’s radiance quite well in this photo, thank you. And yes, Life Is Good has stores all over the place. Probably in Maryland, too.

    I haven’t come across this store in Europe, so far. I love T-shirts, they cover nature, books, computers, Jack Black, etc. I bought the Jack Black T-shirt in Boston (15 different portraits cover the front of it). Another T-shirt I love shows a wolf (front and back), I bought it at Camden Market in London.
