A word from Rachel Carrera …

Let us take a moment today to solve a small mystery about one of my favorite mystery writers, shall we?

There are certain folks here in BloggyVille whose absence of an uncommon length raises a chill in my soul, a pause in my thought and an investigation of some sort on my part.

Rachel’s been missing for more than a week, I realized again yesterday, checking again her place in this online world where she delivers stories and wisdom and all sorts of things, usually every Monday through Friday.

Yes, the writer of chilling short stories that keep you guessing, the two-parters that make you rush to reading on the second day. The supernatural sniffer who can predict things that will make your hair stand on end. The woman from Florida who’ll write about her personal antics with her sister Michelle now as well and their relationships and travels following bands and musicians from 60s and 70s bands on the road in the 90s. The unendingly honest person who relates her own battle on the spectrum and the relationship with her grown daughter and son in a monthly report on autism.

On a personal note, my photographer friend who put The Head and MDW Karen into other fantasy places during Nano Poblano November.

I sent a concerned message and received a reply of yes, yes and yes.

Rachel is busy at work at her new job, directing TV commercials. Her spring allergies have been bothering her. Again. Plus, her doctor told her she has another sinus infection and put her on another round of antibiotics. And, to top it off, her relationship with her birth mother took a huge turn to the more difficult. I’ll leave the details of that one for her to explain upon her return.

“I do hope to be back before the end of the month,” Rachel wrote. “I miss my blog family so much. Thank you for worrying.”

Mystery solved.

Come back as soon as you see fit, Rachel. We’re with you.

Mark = this is so nice of you to check in on a blog friend – and I do not know this blogger (but she sounds great) but I did have a tidbit for you to pass on here way – regarding the sinus infection – because over the last five years I have heard MANY folks report that the reason their sinus issues never cleared up was because it was a fungal infection that antibiotics can’t fully heal…. anyhow, mu sister-n-law insists on oregano oil mixed with a carrier oil – but maybe you can give her this link (http://medcapsules.com/info/Sinus_Infections.htm) to an article by one of my all time favorite herbalists, James Sloane.

    Here is a snippet:

    “Fungal infections of the sinus cavity are actually extremely difficult to eradicate. My former business partner suffered with a fungal sinus infection for seven years when I met him. He was prescribed antibiotics over and over without any success. A few doctors did run cultures, though the cultures failed to show infection. I made him a concoction of osha’ root, cayenne pepper, and licorice root. The next day a large fungus ball came out of his sinuses. Analysis by a medical lab determined that the infection was a very aggressive black fungus. The constant antibiotic therapy just increased the hold the fungus had in his sinus cavity.”

  14. Okay… this is just strange. Two minutes before I read this blog post by you… I commented on a blog lady that I miss. She responded to all of us missing her by letting us know that she too is busy with “life” but will be back.
    I took an extended leave one time because I got a bit frightened as some one did a ping back of one of my posts… which is flattering but this was all they did. (Featured others.) I guess it was a bit bothersome but I recovered and I am trying to post twice a week.
    When I go to my lakehouse soon… I will not be able to post as much due to No Internet connection. But I can visit a free wifi place and hopefully will post one a week. Happy Spring my friend! And glad you check up on your friends! 🙂 🙂 🙂

  16. you’re a good friend for checking, i’ve noticed her absence too, though i know she’s got a lot on her plate right now. i’m glad to hear that she’s okay, just on a break, but sounds like there are some challenges for her right now. i’ve never taken a huge break, but just jump back in where i left off when i am gone for a couple of days. i’d miss you for sure if i didn’t see you on here often, along with others, though know it is usually because life has taken a busy turn.

    • I usually give some time of grace before I worry, Beth, but worry about my friends is part of how I roll. I would only give you a day before I started the first fret. 🙂

    • Sandra of Square One notes and I correspond by email, Rachel, and she just told me that summer break from her job comes soon. That could mean the return of the blog, let’s hope!

      I know I lag too far behind on reading even my best friends’ blogs these days as I write more here and life takes me to other work-related things. Not even the Reader or email notifications can save me. I fret about it so. So I offer to you: We are what we are and we do the best we can with BloggyVille, right? Our hearts are in the right places. 🙂

  21. Yes, it is nice when someone pops up out of the blue after a while. I actually noticed Rachel’s absence so it was nice of you to submit a piece in her honor. I had the pleasure of reviewing one of Rachel’s novels…so there!! Ha, ha!

  24. What a good friend you are, Mark. You do grow used to the rhythm of certain bloggers, don’t you? Some post every day (sometimes even more, EGAD, how do they do it?) and others much less frequently. I’ve been AWOL for as long as two weeks and have to say I was pleasantly surprised to get messages of concern from France and Canada. I hope things are improving steadily for Rachel.
