The ACC feels a lot like the Big East for Syracuse basketball fans, and that’s pretty cool

It was a big and happy crowd Saturday at Rosie’s Sports Pub and Grille in Syracuse.

That’s where my latest blog gig, writing about the Central New York community for Syracuse Public Media site waer.org, took me.

More specifically, that’s where I decided me dear wife Karen and I would go to watch the Syracuse University men’s basketball team’s game against Pittsburgh.

I wanted to talk to folks about how they felt about the Orange’s move from the Big East to the Atlantic Coast Conference now that the first ACC league season is picking up steam.

Smart move, it was.

Fans were into into talking about the move before the game.

And once the action started with old Big East rival Pittsburgh, which joined SU in the switch to the ACC, it felt a lot like being at the Carrier Dome.

  1. great post mark, and i like how it was as much about the human story of the crowd gathered to see the game, as it was about the team and the game itself. you are just popping up all over !
